Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Dark brown clouded liquid. The nose is fruity with hints of tobacco, chocolate and molasses. The body is solid with a malty front - hints of molasses and brown sugar. It quickly thins and fades. Just a touch sweet, but not a bad dunkelweizen.

Pours almost black with nada on the nose. Medium nectar. Mildly dry cocoa/coffee tropshire and light celery on the finish. Not much going on here. I can see why it’s the lowest priced dunkel.

Dark brown cloudy body with a nice big head. Really nice appearance, love those dark weizens. Aromas is malty, wtih hints of banana. Rich flavor of malt and some toffee, not much taste in this one. Very ordinary.

Pours a brilliant chestnut color with a persistent off-white head. The aroma smells like wheat bread, but has little other characteristic of a German Wheat. Almost no banana or clove element at all. The flavor is a little sweet and malty with a nice smooth mouthfeel. Neither too thick nor too thin, just a nice full feeling. A light finish the has little duration. An average beer that does little for me.

Bottle. Very dark brown beer, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, spices. Flavour is sweet, liquorice, laurel, roasted malts. A little sour due to the carbonation. Didn’t really like it.

Big off white head. slight malty, and yeasty aroma. Kinda weak in flavour, thin and wattery, meh, not their best, pretty much the same as their regualr weisse, might be one of the worls most popular weisse beers, but far from the best.

Pours cloudy reddish brown. The aroma is cream, roasty dark malts, and a small amount of typical hefe mixed with a dash of metal. The aroma reminds me a bit of a schwarzbier. The flavor is sweet malt, a bit of metal, and a little hefe but not much.

Bottled 50cl. It pours a dark brown beer with a nice slightly beige head. Dominating raisins in the nose. Fruity with hints of almonds and a good malty background. Slightly smoky. This beer is nicely balanced. Malty, moderately sweet and with a hint of sourness. Light bodied. Notes of bergamot, soap, raisins, licorice and cereals. Some cloves and garlic?! showing up. Slightly watery. Bready. Malty finish with a hint of plums. Rerate: Mediocre, let’s face it!
