Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Bottled 50cl. It pours a dark brown beer with a nice slightly beige head. Dominating raisins in the nose. Fruity with hints of almonds and a good malty background. Slightly smoky. This beer is nicely balanced. Malty, moderately sweet and with a hint of sourness. Light bodied. Notes of bergamot, soap, raisins, licorice and cereals. Some cloves and garlic?! showing up. Slightly watery. Bready. Malty finish with a hint of plums. Rerate: Mediocre, let’s face it!

500 ml bottle. Throws a tall white head. Greyish black. Bready and yeasty aroma. Dryish, not at all sweet, aroma. Subdued black roasted malts come out soft and gentle. No hints of harsh acrid burnt malts at all. Palate is clean, clearly helped by the high carbonation level. Smooth mouthfeel that is only interrupted by the tickling from carbonation. Not at all a complex beer, but is a nice alternative to their ordinary hefe-weizen.

Great big, huge, lasting head, with a dark brown body. Heavy malty aroma. Small banana notes, slight roasted malt flavour, overall pretty mild.

Shared by Fidel, pours deep brown with finger thick frothy head. The nose is sweet and a bit of cola and prunes. The flavor is much the same, with a bit of a sweet fruit tang. Medium-full mouthfeel.

Bottle. Dark with a very large head. Bready aroma with a litlte bit of yeast in there. Dark malts, minor chocolate, cookie in flavor. A mellow way to end a night...
