Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Bottle: Black, with a large white head. Aroma of spices and herbs with a malty taste. Distinctively wheat with an extra touch.

My bottle said "Hefeweizen Dark" on it. Pours a nice brown with ruby highlights and a solid off-white head. The aroma was wheat, banana and some citrus fruits. The flavor had a nice wheaty start that transitioned into citrus with a mild hoppy finish. I didn’t pull that much in the way of the porter stylings from this beer, just tasted like a hefe-weizen to me.

Maybe an old tired sample. No flavor and almost no aroma. Unbelievable lack of character.

Dark brown colour. Watery body. Some roastmaltiness, a hint of liquorice, no banana and almost no yeast. Pretty flat. There´s also something metallic there that somehow sticks to my tongue. The worst dunkelweizen I know.

Nice dark appearance with a huge dense foamy baige head. Aroma is abit vague, but i sence some malty roasted characters along with a metallic scent. Flavor of roasted malts and with a smokey touch. The fruity wheat aroma comes through when the beer heats up abit. I find the carbonation to be abit over the top

(Bottle). Malty aroma. Deep dark brown, huge light tan head. Pleasant mild malty flavor, some gentle sweetness and caramel. Nice sipping beer.
