Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Bottle pours dark with a large tan head. Smells of coffee and has a roasted aroma, sweet taste with a nice dark wheat flavor.

Bottle poured into my trusty stein- poured dark brown, nice off tan head formed and stayed around to play cards with me, medium-light carbonation. Aroma of burnt wheat with notes of banana and clove- a little odd with the burnt wheat for me. Hits the mouth with a high-thin body, malt comes through cleanly and has a creaminess to it, very slight sugar note on the finish. Another one for my sessioner class of brews...

Pours a murky dark colour with a large lacy foamy head. Soft aroma of dried fruit, yeast and cocoa. Medium body, flavours of earth, cocoa and herbal hops giving a moderate bitterness. Yeasty towards the finish, which is otherwise slightly drier than I expected. Ticks all the boxes.

This is a decent Dunkelweizen. Malty, and some wheat flavors. Finishes clean, crisp, and dry. Very Drinkable.

16.9 oz. Bottle. Pours a dark red color with a good head and lacing. It has a kind of a weird sour nose. The flavor is smooth and bready with no banana or clove and slightly roasted. Smooth and clean finish. Not what I expected.

Bottle @ House of Brews (46th St), NYC. Pours a hazy dark brown and that prominent tan head you see in every weissbier. Aroma is of clove, banana, malt, and slight chocolate. Taste is predominantly chocolate but I also detected some clove and banana as well. A great dunkelweizen.

500 mL bottle from LCBO gift pack. Dark brown - almost opaque. Beige head starts large and grows from there. (It did go down eventually). Aroma is sharp - bruised apples, with a bit of spice and malt in behind. Original taste. For some reason, I’m getting green apples more than bananas. Don’t notice much spice until the end, when I got a sort of sweet/spicy thing. Very little bitterness. Good, not great.

.5L Bottle Lt to medium body that is smooth and sweet. Nose is minimal caramel. No lacing, and not much carbonation. Mouthfeel is caramel and some powdered sugar. Finish is a bit watery and the wheat is subdued. This is a quite drinkable beer none the less, but a bit off the mark.
