Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Bottle@BlindTastingSession. Fruity aroma with mainly raisins. Cloudy, dark brown, beige head, fair lace. Sweet, light bitter, some sourness, fruity, raisin, honey, licorice wood, black currant. Weak and soft mouthfeel. Interesting.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a huge light brown head that diminished slowly and produced excellent lacing. Good malty and fruit aroma. Medium body with a thin texture. Good malty and banana flavor with an average finish. Soft drinkable brew.

Pours with a fantastic large head of foam. Otherwise this is a refreshing dunkle weisse with a light malty flavour. Perhaps too light and thin on the palate.

Bottled. A chestnut brown coloured beer with a tan head. The aroma has hints of caramel and chocolate whilst the taste has some nutty notes as well as caramel. It is a clean beer but ultimately a little thin.Score 3.0

The label matches, bugt I have a few more Erdinger beers up my sleeve (and a few more German women, also). This one pours turbid burny umber with medium, uniform, off-white head. Aroma of hopcit, toffee, brown sugar, figs, sour mash poontang. Tastes roasty malty, with shades of caramel, almonds, figs, brown sugar. Medium to light palate, with a moderate complexity and balance. This one is a definite repeater, but not one that jumos out at me and demands a repeat buy.

Dark brown dunkel, hazed with quickly collapsing light brown head. Light spices in aroma, very faint. Light watery malt with light bananas, very boring dunkel, bought as a gift pack, LCBO.

Muddy dark brown body with big, frothy, off-white head. Malt dominated aroma, but no real hint of the wheat malt. Well balanced hop finish.

Head is initially huge, frothy, off-white, fully lasting. Body is hazy medium to dark brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (bread, burnt grain, caramel), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), light note of sawdust, hints of banana and clove. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, slightly metallic. Very little weissbier character in the nose (kinda smells like a commercialized Dunkel or even American Dark). Not a great aftertaste either. Very disappointing. It *looks* wonderful, but looks can of course be deceiving.
