Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Sept, 2002Flat Coco-cola with alcohol. [1.9]
Feb, 2009 Good condition. Beer is bottle conditioned. Hints of licorice. Fairly watery for a 5.6% - or should I say: light and easy drinking? Chalky. Faint fruity sweetness. It’s drinkable, but lacks impact for me. I’m not keen on wheat beers, and this is dry, with some faint bubblegum notes, and not blessed with the flavours that I personally enjoy. It’s drinkable though. [2.1]

Bottle. White head. Dark red brown body. Aroma of roasted malt. More spicy than actually sweet flavor maybe because of relatively much carbon dioxide.

Poured a mostly black color with a light tan head. Malty with a light roast, caramel, fruity, light citrus. Medium body. Pretty tasty.

creamy. Easy drink but not one that distinguished itself. Some aroma there including cocoa. Bit of different flavours, including nuts but altogether on the thin mouthfeel side. Roast and also a tad burnt wheat. Malty more than anything.

Bottle (330ml). Shared with Blankboy. Poured deep ruby-black (almost opaque) with a large creamy-foamy lasting tan head. Aroma of dark fruity roast malt, sour red wine, lactose - but quite unpreposessing. Taste of tart underripe berry fruits, light roast malt, with grains and the sourish red wine still in evidence. Mouthfeel is pleasantly fizzy - overall a decent dunkel, not the best I’ve had.

Dark brown, neat large creamy head (did not last long). Gentle, light woody aroma, thin chocolate malt. Medium, light body, high carbonation, light chocolate woody character. Clean beer I give you that, but so thin and light .Shadow of good beer.

Deep brown color, large foamy head. Nice malty nose. Malts are slightly sweet. Chocolate, caramel and a slight touch of vanilla. Milder flavor. Nicely balanced. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Draft at BeerBistro. Dark brown body with a big creamy beige head and solid lacing. Mild malt aroma, with notes of light toasty caramel. Similar flavour of sweet caramel malt with dry toasty finish and aftertaste. (6+). More dunkel than weiss. Average palate. Pleasant but less Aventinus like than I had hoped.
