Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

In the summer I would probably always go for the fruity and refreshing Hefeweizen. The Dunkel is very good too though: Big creamy head and some pleasant light malts.

lovely dark color--I realize now the big head on this was not because it had been in my car after a drive. Bitterness and alcohol in the aroma, taste of caramel, perhaps molasses, sweet. Nice flavor, very enjoyable (esp. with food).

Coffeebrown, wonderful sticky head. Malty with hints of coffee. Refreshing nice sweet aftertaste like a lollipop. I like this beer a lot!

Poured with a very nice creamy 1 in. head which quickly dissapated into a 1/8in. head. The aroma was a bubble gum candy aroma. The bubbles were relatibvely large but they were prominent and fluffy enough to really enojoy. The taste was a very pleasing sweet malty caramel like beer with a smooth aftertaste. there was no dominating extract that impinged on the flavor, rather it was quite smooth and drinkable. This beer may lack a little substance and depth but it makes up for that in taste. The character is moderate to small, but the appreciation for such a brew is large.

Beuatiful to look at. A dark walnut color with a huge bubbly head. Mild aroma & flavor which leaves you with a clean palate. Overall a good drinking beer.

6/20/03, bottle, Berlin. Gotta love those German wheats. This is a dunkel wheat, dark brown, cloud and completely opaque with a large tan foamy head. Rich malty aroma, nutty with hints of citrus, wheat and maple. Complex hoppy, wheaty, caramelly flavor - smooth and delicious. Medium to full body, lightly carbonated and refreshing.
