Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

I love weizenbier and this isn’t an amazing example by any means, but it is still extremely good. Relaively light bodied for being a Dunkel and lacking the banana-clove punch of some of the the chamions of the style but very drinkable session beer and at 1.69 a half-liter not too rough on the wallet.

Somehow I expected a stronger, heavier flavor than I experienced in the Erdinger Hefeweizen. the only distinguishing difference I detected was the darker color.

Really good beer, medium creamy body, some caramel flavors, yeasty, malty, bit sweet, very easy to drink, very nice.

Large cream colored head. Dissapated fairly quickly, but a thin layer stayed on top of the beer while I was drinking it. The beer went down smooth with a light roasted malt flavor. All in all, this was a good beer and I will def. buy it again

Very bubbly dark Hefeweizen, with a slightly acidic finish. Well-balanced between hops and malt. Overall, very good.

Pours a very dark brown that looks almost like chocolate soy milk due to its cloudy syrupy look. Big fluffy off white head. Tastes like wheat and malt and sugar. Kind of like what a diet dopplebock might taste like. Pretty good and very refreshing.

Dark copper brown with a strong head. Aroma is of cloves, yeast, citrus, banana and roasted coffee. Taste of roasted coffee with a subtle hint of salt and sour. The aftertase is of a semi-sweet caramel.
