Dark and rich, nice malt nose, hints of toasted grains, somewhat dry and a bit of hop tones, all in all a better than average ’Dunkel Weiss’. hotstuff (3183), Indiana, USA

Re-Rate:Poured a tan large sized head that was fizzy, minima lacing, carbonated, opaque, and a dark brown hue. Sweet, malty and caramel nose and mimicked in the flavor. Smooth, thin mouthfee. Light body. jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA

I wish this were still available around here, but apparently the distributer decided that retirement made more sense than anything else. Oh well, sweet aroma/flavor, nice head when poured. I really enjoy erdinger. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA

Initial flavor is very smooth, one of the most enjoyable beers I have tasted. Very tasty with no bitter hops. No offensive finish what so ever. Much better than any of the highly touted bitter beers I see on this website. I’ll never taste another imperial stout or IPA again. Thanks erdinger. Note: My bottle did not say ’dunkle’ on it, it said ’hefe-weizen dark’ 5.5% but everybody assures me this is the same beer. Codythegreat (146), Carrollton, Georgia, USA

It looks like a porter but doesn’t really have a head. The taste and aroma are awesome. I drank this out of a shaker. IPAaLLtHEwAY (137), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 29, 2008 Smells very herbal. Earthy if you will... Appearance is amazing. I was very impressed with the appearance, first look it is a rich dark almost like coffee, but put it to the light and it illuminates a vibrant red hue. Flavor on this one is much like coffee. full flavor but not so much for the palate. You cannot taste the hops or the alcohol, and there is not so much as a hint of sweetness. Personally i truly like this one. Nothing exemplary about it but it is a superb session beer. A lot of low ratings on here but this one is worth trying if you already haven’t.
