Sweet roasted malt aroma with earthy yeast. Attractive bitter malt flavor with diet cola. Rather weak, but the lively carbonation contributes to a spicy taste and mouthfeel.

Bottle - June 2005
Pours very opaque brown, almost black. Thick head and white ( but not so thick for a wheat bear). The aroma and taste are of cloves and bananas, lingering a bit, but the aftertaste doesn´t lasts long. A fine dunkel when no others are around. goozen (1102), Leiden, Netherlands

Beige head starts large and grows from there. (It did go down eventually). Aroma is sharp - bruised apples, with a bit of spice and malt in behind. Original taste. For some reason, I’m getting green apples more than bananas. Don’t notice much spice until the end, when I got a sort of sweet/spicy thing. Very little bitterness. Good, not great. krysztofar (344), belleville, Illinois, USA

1/2 liter bottle
Moderate pour in a Weizen glass.
Best before 10/07, dinged 06/07.
Poured a clear ruddy brown with lots of bubbles and a medium fizzy somewhat diminishing light brown head.
Smelt of moderate spices, toasted malt, light molasses.
Taste was upfront moderate sweet and bitter toasted grain and molasses followed by more of the same, except more pronounced on the bitter end. Short to medium length finish.
Palate was light to medium bodied, fizzy, slightly dry and lightly astringent.
Overall, its good a good dark wheat flavor which is one of my favorite grain flavors, but nothing extraordinary. Overly carbonated and generally light flavors make this a good session beer, but nothing to marvel about.
