Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.6%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Cloudy brown color, lasting head. Aroma of malts and coffee. Bit watery taste, just as the hefeweizen. OK, but a little more complex taste would be nice.

I liked the other erdinger beers a little better but this is not bad. Rich tasting that leaves a nice smooth after taste

Bottle. Pours a dark opaque brown colour with a rapidly diminishing, bubby tan head. Earthy, malt aroma. Medium body with malt and caramel flavours. Smooth finish.

A nice beer, especially with food. A big head, typical dunkel. A very malty and a very noticable wheat flavour, found the finish to be tiny bit sour.. I dont like this nowadays as much as I did few years ago, but a really nice beer!

500ml brown bottle. Poured deep choclate brown, very dense creamy tan head. Malty aroma, chocolate malts and faint fruits. Light body, smoothly carbonated with a bit of a wheaty dry finish.

Bottle from Inn Beer shop, Lord St. Southport. For me it did what it says in the description. Dark malt was more apparent in the taste than wheat but the spicy flavour, combined with the wheat taste was very acceptable.

This stuff is really pleasant; I could see this as a good all-night beer. Not very hoppy or bitter at all. Just smooth maltiness, cocoa, and cream all slightly roasted, though not as full as a porter. Overall not world class, but very good.

Dark red-brown pour with a very frothy light tan head. Aroma of wheat. A little sweet, nice wheat flavor. Lacing on the glass. A little roasted flavor in the background.
