Aug 12, 2008 Pours a deep, dark brown with a huge head which collapses to a quarter-inch head with great retention and some lace. Slightly skunky lagerish aroma - light butter, light toastiness, and as it warms, a nice spiciness. Tastes surprisingly pleasant - I don’t normally like this style of beer. Sweet and buttery with a light molasses touch, but with a nice strong & smooth malt backbone. Light metallic taste to the hops, particularly in the finish. A bit undercarbonated, but a good creamy milkshake of a body. I don’t dislike this beer. Would go well with a steak.

Dec 7, 2006 Bottle. First "hefe weizen -dark" as the label shows. Pours a dark brown, near black with a thick offwhite head. Poured in a weizen glass. A little spice, banana flavorings. Intersting texture, its dark, but drinks fairly light and smooth, almost water-like. I over-expected on this, hoping for a more pronouced flavor, especially after having a simple Widmer Hefe earlier in the day.

Feb 24, 2008 Bottle. A lovely dark pour and with a big white head. Plenty of wheat in the aroma. However the taste is bit of a let down no real flavours hit you.

Dec 7, 2008 Pours a deep brown colour, with a reasonably thick brown head. Nose is lots of dark fruits. Plenty of raisins, and just a hint of dark chocolate. Flavour is fruity, but not like a fruit beer, just fruity. There is also a lot of spicyness which I would assume to be wheat. Also a hint of banana and maybe some cloves, although, I may just be imagining that part because I think it should be there possibly. Mouthfeel is not too bad, there is some body to it, and the carbonation is not too strong. Reasonably light drinking for a dark beer too. Not bad,

Oct 10, 2008 (Bottle). Hazy dark brown with a medium white head. Aroma of banana, malt, and some hints of grains and cherry. Malty flavour with some yeast, and also sweet. Medium body and well balanced. Very refreshing.
