argo0 (6229), Washington DC, USA Aug 23, 2006 (12oz bottle) Clear amber body with medium off-white head that mostly diminishes. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, some earthy, light raisin, toffee. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, earthy, light raisin. Watery light-medium body, some creaminess. CaptainCougar (4663), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 7, 2006 Bottle thanks to sliffy: Pours a clear copper orange with a thin-lacing wispy white head. Sweet caramely malty aroma has a noble hoppy character and lager yeasty profile. Body starts with a sweet grainy malty flavor and lots of malt liquor character. Not much resemblance of an old ale here, although it hides its alcohol fairly well. hopdog (4645), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 9, 2006 On tap. Poured a medium and clear orange color with smaller sized white head. The person pouring this told me it was Scottish Ale. Aromas of caramel, citrus, very light peat and a little earthy. Tastes caram, citrus and a light earthiness. hopscotch (4576), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jan 22, 2006 Bottle... Hazy, amber ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Great retention. Soapy, fruity nose with notes of pear, fruitcake and sour apple. Whispers of nutmeg, cinnamon and maybe allspice. The flavor is very Flemish. Not sure what to make of this, but I do like a certain degree of sourness. Underripe apple? Medium-bodied and creamy with lively carbonation. Tart, dry finish. Probably an infected bottle. However, if so (probably so), it actually added some flavor to an otherwise bland ale. Cornfield (4329), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jul 31, 2007 Lightest colored beer I’ve had of this style to date, a deep gold with a film in lieu of a head. The aroma is faint, caramel with toffee. Little else. The heavy carbonation is a distraction from the desired malty flavor, leaving you with a bit of caramel with a lemon twist and a light floral bitterness in the finish. Uninspired.
