Draft @ Shepherd and Knucklehead pub. Pours a deep copper, thick head. Nose of caramel malt, distinct rye and some minor hop aromas. Taste is heavy on the malt, then the rye, finishing with a slight bitterness. Easily quaffable, overall a ton better than the original railbender.

Dec 12, 2009 On tap at the vintage estates, nice place. Looks fizzy but actually has less than average carbonation. Starts mild then builds to a medium offnse. Not as strong as many IPA. Medium length rye or IPA finish and linger.

Dec 4, 2009 Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured a dark caramel-amber color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was lightly fruity and nutty. The flavor was sour, tangy and a touch bitter with a hint of pepper and moderate fruity hops. Medium length finish. Medium to full body. Decent.

Poured dark copper color with an average creamy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy rye and toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a slick smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy complex sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration.
Good brew.

Oct 29, 2009 Fantastic, limited draft only offering, from the fine folks at Erie. The rye really smooths out the profile of the already smooth Railbender. Rye makes it creamy and cuts a lot of the sweetness that I find to be a bit much in Railbender. Looks and pours beautifully. Doesn’t actually taste much like regular Railbender..........it’s much better! SO easy to drink. Strangely seems more Scottish in profile with the Rye. I might need to seek out the Smokebender, as well? Great beer.

Oct 29, 2009 not the best Scottish ale ever. Not much aroma, body was average. Taste was a bit of rye malt mixed with a subtle hop flavor.

Oct 21, 2009 draft @ redlight redlight. Caramelly, malty nose with bready malts, sweet spicy rye. Pours a golden amber with a thick white head. Very smooth and malty, caramelly malts with some fresh bread, earthy rye spice and finishes with a mild earthy bitterness. Good.

Oct 21, 2009 Draft at Redlight. Pours a pretty copper color with a thick fluffy head. Hints of rye, hops and sweet malt in the nose. Taste is smooth malty, a little sweet and thick with notes of rye spiciness and hop bitterness. Good brew.
