| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2005 Thanks to Boutip for this one. I guessed this was a Schwarzbier before I read about it. I guess my beer tasting skills are increasing. Clear walnut color with light head. Malty aroma, licorice root, heavy and woody. I like it. The flavor is lightly malty with carob and light wood. Very “lager forward”” if that makes any sense. Medium slick and carbonated body. Very enjoyable. Wanted to drink it all night actually. blankboy (3250), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Aroma of roasted malt, hops and coffee. Flavour follows aroma along with a touch of chocolate. Body is a little thin. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Sep 25, 2005 Bottled. Aroma starts with chocolat and black currant but stays mainly licorice. Very dark ruby color, light brown head, good lace. Light sweet, light bitter, light roasted, mainly licorice in the flavor as well. Bit smooth mouthfeel at start soons gets thin. Aroma makes you expect more complexity in the flavor but it’s not there.
