mullet (798), Melbourne, Australia Jan 7, 2005 Thick hazy orange colour. Fizzy with zero head. Big Belgian malty-fruity aroma. There’s heaps of apricot, caramelly malt and toast. It’s reminiscent of both bottled 3 Ravens Blond and Abbaye des Rocs (at the same time). Thick malty sweetness with loads of caramel flavour. It’s fat and sweet but manages not to be cloying. Tiny bitterness. Very interesting, and great for the alcoholic strength. The thing that worries me is that this wasn’t intended as a Belgian ale (though I could be wrong - my knowledge of the Argentinian beer scene ain’t great) because the El Bolson rauch also had a bit of the Belgian about it too. Oh well, it was nice nonetheless. Thanks Gilesy!
