Strong alcoholic nose with some coffee bitterness, bitter cherries, raisins, and scotch. Complex and nuanced. Milky mouthfeel, but a timid finish. Not spectacular, especially for the style, but drinkable. I’d have it again. zeke626 (303), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 16, 2007 Bottle, poured a deep opaque brown with very little head. Aroma is a bit weak, but is mainly toasted malt and cocoa. Body is kind of weak with light malt/chocolate flavors. Most of the flavor comes on the front of the palate and the finish is watery. Slight coffee aftertaste. jzzbassman (850), New Albany, Mississippi, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Black pour with only wisps of brown head from a vigorous pour. Aroma is chocolate and very mild roast. Flavor is sweet and chocolaty. Very smooth body with very little carbonation, but not flat. A touch watery, but not too bad. | 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 1/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Oct 29, 2006 This beer made the mediocre Samson stout seem impressive. The appearance was weak, the head was non-existant which seems to be standard with any Estes Park brew. I could not detect any discernable aroma at all. The flavor was dark and bitter with a watery, oily body followed by a metallic aftertaste. I haven’t had many porters but this is easily the worst. BrewDad (2370), Olympia, Washington, USA

An easy to drink porter with a nice flavor. Did seem to be watered down. Something up in Colorado a lot of brews come out watery. Must be the altitude. The flavors where good the color was awesome. I did like the finish with the hint of chocolate.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 13, 2006 Bottled. Poured a deep reddish-brown with a towering cap of creamy beige head and quite a bit of small sediment suspended in there. Nose was airy with faint, burnt dark chocolate malts and soap... not much going on, and not at all enticing. Flavor picked it up a couple notches with more rounded burnt chocolate, some spices, and husky dry hoppage... palate was thin and slick, leaving bitter coffee roast and dried leaves at the finish. Not a good porter. MoreHead (355), Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA
