Slightly toasted taste, hops come in quite bitter in the finish. Nice bittering, but still needs some work as far as flavor hops. jah noth (1017), Rochester, New York, USA

Nice grapefruit nose and strong citric hop presence. Well balanced with a caramel sweetness. My only complaint is a watery mouthfeel, otherwise nice beer. Thanks to my father-in-law! | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 9, 2004 Cloudy deep amber, long lasting beige head.Nose of hops and fruit esters. Light malt start turns into an odd medium hop bitterness, that somehow doesn’t cut it. BeerLimey (1873), California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 16, 2004 Clear reddish hue, decent head formation. Creamy, peaches and grapefruit aroma (nice combo). Strong freh, bitter tangy grapefruit flavor. Pretty harsh, bitter and dry, just the kind of challenge in an IPA I enjoy. Grapefruit bitter finish. One dimensional but ina dimension I enjoy. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 15, 2004 Dark amber body with short head and nice lacing. Aroma is strong citrus hops. I was surprised when the thick soft malts ended up dominating the flavor, leaving most of the hops for a long warm finish. Tasted like a more traditional styled IPA. The friendly bartender at the tasting bar clued me in that their Pale Ale that they had on tap upstairs was actually hoppier (he was right!) irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 23, 2004 pours a hazy red/orange with a good white head that turns into a sticky lace. the nose is all C-hops (very cascade-y), with some sweet malt notes following behind. beer is very heavy, a lot of malt sweetness mixed with the strong hop flavors. a strongly flavored beer that should be well-balanced but is instead a little hard to drink. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2004 A good IPA from an underrated (IMHO) brewery. On the dark side for the style, but definitely an IPA. Of course, it is hoppy. It's an IPA. But it does not have too much of the grapefruit thing going on, therefore I like it more than some other IPA's. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
