Pours a dark black with small off-white head and nice lacing. Very roasted nose. Incredibly watery mouthfeel for a stout. Mild hop and burnt chocolate flavor. It grew on me a little as it warmed. Sweet oatmeal and chocolate blend with a light roastyness and a generous amount of hops. Finish is dry with some lingering sweetness. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 16, 2004 Black body with a tightly-bubbled tan head. Hazy, dusty chocolate/coffee aroma with a porter-ish tartness. Satisfyingly creamy mouthfeel, suits the beer well. The flavor has a nice dry stout coffee flavor with chocolate and piney hops bringing up the rear. A sweet stout that leans towards bitter/roasted flavors.
