ROGUE (621), Newark, Delaware, USA Nov 2, 2009 12oz bottle. Poured a hazy gold color with a two finger rocky white head that quickly dissipated. Aroma of sweet honey and light clove spices.
The taste was mild wheat and only a slight touch of honey. The body was thin, with a slightly watery finish. Expected more honey flavor. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 3, 2009 draft at the brewpub - Pours gold with a white head and has a very mild malt and honey aroma. It tastes sweet with ample honey and some light malt. The honey is a nice touch to make it a bit different. It tastes good as a refresher. Yet there’s not enough to this beer. illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 18, 2009 Bottle from my friend Daryl. Pours golden amber with a white head. Aroma is slightly wheaty, but with a backdrop of cheap beer. Light bodied with average carbonation. Flavor is your basic mass produced pale wheat beer, hint of honey, average attenuation. Ok Crafty07 (391), Florence, Kentucky, USA Jul 22, 2009 Not so sure it’s a pure Wheat Ale as the large amount of Honey pervades this brew. Having said that, its’ pretty good. Not something that will impress this group but if you’re looking for a honey wheat...this is one of the better ones.
phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jul 17, 2009 A passable honey brew i guess... dark golden with a small frothy top. Soft honey, stale hops and grass on the nose. A little hint of sweetness midpalate gives way to some more grassiness. Slight watery finish. My belief is that while honey and beer go well together. I think that they’re meant to be drunk fresh. Nothing like a fresh honey beer. Anything after that- it’s usually not so good in my opinion. Chef Chad (102), Grand Junction, Colorado, USA Jul 10, 2009 Not much going on here with the nose and swirling doesn’t seem to help. Very faint honey. Pours a very see thru yellow almost like looking at a pale lager of sorts. there was very little head and it did not last. Carbonation was light and the body of the beer wasn’t watery just very light but it worked. Finish was very smooth and clean. I like the flavor overall. It is mildly sweet with some bready flavors and balanced honey. It does get citrusy and tart on the back end but it doesn’t ruin the beer. nuplastikk (1161), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 18, 2009 12oz bottle. Cloudy orange-gold color, not much head. Mellow honey malt aroma. The taste is smooth and mellow, the sweet malt balancing out quite well with the sweet honey. A touch low carbonation-wise, and lacks any hop depth. An easy drinker and somewhat unique, it still lacks in body...too watery. I’d assume it’s a little better fresh on tap. Dmalone102 (216), Denver, Colorado, USA Feb 7, 2009 Judging this beer against the style, it is fantastic. There is a great estery aroma that is fresh and herbal, not german-like. It has a great wheat malt background and manages to have a good golden color instead of the sickly whitish-pale color that sometimes comes with wheat beer. When people rate beer, I believe that they need to consult the style explanations on www.BJCP.org, just to give the beer a fair rating.
