Commercial Description:
As a true ice cidre "Cidre de Givre" expresses with intensity the flavors of the apples from Domaine Etienne Dupont. It is derived from E. Dupont Cidre Bouche Brut 2005 by freezing it and then removing the frozen water.

2006 - Dark amber body, big bubbled head; Very strange green aroma, somewhat like fresh asparagus; Super sweet burnt caramel body, a little fresh acid too; warm caramel finish, caramel aromas, lots of cheap brown sugar. Strange, and nothing like the Canadian Ice Ciders.

Bottle shared at a tasting. Pours a headless amber body. Aroma of sour apples honey grass and citrus. Flavor is similar with some etoh to kick. Not bad.

375 ml bottle, via TheCheeseMan. Pours a viscous looking clear amber body with zero head. Looks like a dessert wine. The nose is hearty baked apples, honey, apple skins, a touch of alcohol. The flavor is sweet caramel and brown sugar-like with a soft baked apple fruitiness, some light spiciness. Mouthfeel is still, fairly thick, but not approaching most ice wines in their syrupiness. I’m really starting to like these Ciders from Dupont. Excellent again.

The color is dark, golden-red-brown and the mouthfeel is almost oily and smooth and pleasant. The aroma makes me think of apples with syrup, baked in the oven, it’s alluring. The flavour has sweetness, and again it’s like drinking the delicious sap from apples without kernels with filling and syrup, baked in the oven, it’s vinous and it also has hints of raisins. The flavours is quite unexpected, and I really, really like it. My husband does not like cider, but even he thinks it’s delicious.

2005 375ml bottle from pepsican; Nose is like a caramelized apple (sweet apples with a light caramel note); color is a caramel brown (about halfway between a light and a dark caramel); flavor is apples, sweetness, and a definate toffee flavor. Finish has a tiny bit of tartness but not much. A very much different ice cider than all the others I have had!

Bottle/2005: Golden amber, smells like applesauce...which has to be good right? I have to admit this is my first ice cider so I’m not quite sure how to rate this. It’s good. Sweet, tart, delicious. I really dig this...yum.

This was radically different from anything I had tried in the past, and I was expecting it to be sweet, but it was actually quite dry and bittter. very sticky on the palate and somewhat vinous. Just not a pleasant experience at all.
