Commercial Description:
The nose is filled with complex notes of figs, fruitcake, port, licorice, cherry, raisin chocolate, black toffee, coffee and caramel, while it tastes deliciously thick and chewy, with great complexity showing notes of fruits, coffee-roastiness, molasses, licorice, and toffee. This beer is a meal!

Keg (St. Urho’s, Helsinki). Less punchy than the bottled version. Perfumed, almost fruity. More bitter, and less sticky than the bottle too. The bottled version is a perfect final beer - strong sticky sweet maltiness, with enough bitterness to hide the alcohol, or at least draw attention away from it.

Bottle, 7,0%. Weak malty, sweet aroma. Clear dark brown colour, small semi-stable head. Good flavour, quite malty and also a little sweet. Roasted notes along with pepper and a little tartness to balance. Dusty finish with a hint of dried fruit. Soft carbonation. A very good Doppelbock.

Pour is a dark brown, I had to hold it up to the light to make sure it wasn’t black. A decent head, but nothing to write home about, it went away pretty quickly. It has a rich smell - some malts and fruits jump out at you. The flavor was dark roasted malts and a little woody - maple perhaps. It gets better as it warms up. It’s a fairly smooth, slightly bitter finish with a touch of hops. It feels a little thick in the mouth. Overall a drinkable brew. Found this at Sams stop in durham

Bottle. Thanks to solan for sending me this one. Poureda dark ruby body with a nice thin head, perfect look. Sweet malty aroma, plums, dried fruit. Flavor is a very dry sweet an noticable dried fruity taste, decent amount of sugar, nice mouthfeel. A damn good Dopplebock.

Deep brown, white creamy head. Nose held rich malty notes of plum, caramel, and rummy fruitcake, with lesser notes of chocolate and banana. Malty caramelized toffee and dark fruity flavors are nicely balanced with a light hop bitterness and hints of booze. Full bodied, soft carbonation and smooth, lightly bittersweet finish. A great find at $3.49 a bottle. Very well made...

Bottle. Aroma is of smokey malt and pit fruit; a little bit funky. The flavor is a mixture of caramel malt and pit fruit with a smokey finish.

Bottle; poured a brown-amber; small to medium head. Aroma of malt, dark fruit, banana, caramel and spice; lingering light smokiness. Alcohol was well hidden; very flavorful.
