Dark black/brown color with a thin thick light brown head. Sweet chocolate caramel smell. Taste was a chocolate caramel with hint of nuts.

Bottle. Mahogany pour, short, lacing beige head. Sweet dark malt and molasses overtones. Also some caramel and nut, perhaps a touch of roast. Taste is sweet and acidic, dark with creeping bitterness, same flavors as in the nose, plus some chocolate. Medium-bodied and smooth. Hoppy, above-average-for-a-Dunkel dry finish. Really, even small amounts of added bitterness and reduced sweetness do wonders for the style. Clean, unsualy, good.

Poured a brown color with some copper when held to the light. The head was initially nice, subsided to a normal level, and then gave weak lacing. The aroma was earthy with some caramel. The flavor was caramel, light chocolate and even coffee, with a grassy hop addition. As it warmed, some nuts detectable, but only in the background. This is the third Ettal brew I’ve had and all have been grassy, they love their Saaz, I guess. The mouthfeel was rather dry but this also had the odd sweet balance. Not many beers that are sweet also come across dry.

Cola brown with a frothy, khaki head. Nose of toasted malt and subtle dark fruits. Flavor adds graham cracker, cocoa powder, nuts, and some cola. Light/medium body, balanced. Very easy drinking.

Slate black and nice initial head with bubbles. Sweet malt, including chocolate malts, and molasses with appropriate carbonation and creamy, then just plain and bitter finish. On-tap taste.

(bottle) Pours a deep reddish brown/mahogony color with a thick, although it goes away pretty quickly off white, cappaccino head. Aroma is nice...malty, earthy. Flavors of chocolatre, coffee, caramel, apples, berries, wheat, roasted malts. Quite tastey!
