Chocolate and caramel aroma, a touch of ginger cookies. Perfectly balanced, a whiff of sweetness flows into a moderately hopped finish. Palate is light and smooth, not overly carbonated. A touch toward bland, butOK. Definitely simple. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 17, 2005 500 ml bottle. Cloudy dark walnut, nearly opaque with faint red tints, thick moderately lasting fluffy head and thick lace...big chocolaty-malty nose, hints of prunce along with dried straw and light berries, caramel, nice but for just a hint of soapiness...unfortunately a bit thin on the palate, but some nice chocolaty notes, moderate sweetness and decent roasty malt makes for a reasonably pleasant if unexciting drinking experience. Barely a trace of hops. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 3, 2005 Solid auburn with a dark umber glow. Medium and compact light tan foam. Lace sticks in skimpy strings but keeps a solid skim and collar the entire session.
Aroma is pretty solid with light roasty malting and nutty breads. A bit toasty and drizzled with caramel; always dry yet sweetly sided with the bread tone.
Taste is about the same as what the smell eludes to which stands among a good caramel, nutty bread tone with dustings of cocoa, wood, and drying nuttyness and pretzeled breadings.
Fluffy and firm carbonation thats clean and gripping to the point of good natured drinking. Medium body with a solid finish of nuts, toasty breadyness, and a light mineral spicey woodish hop thing.
A very solid beer. Munich malts make the bread tones evident and the extra darker toasty nuttyness gives it an almost porter-esk character. Quite a nice treat. Spendy though. barenada (211), Georgetown, Indiana, USA

The main flavor I got was caramel, but there was really an awful lot of complexity behind that. Everything was subdued, but noticeable. Pretty good. matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 24, 2005 I think it was my pal The_Beer_God that sent me this select import!
The body is a hue of hazelnut… The head is tall and khaki. This beer is a terrific example as to a beer that gathers more flavor and aroma as it warms… the chill seems to majorly suppress everything.
Nice nutty suggestions are observed, along with hints of toffee, cola, and coco. There is a satisfying allusion of smoky molasses, plums, date sugars and fig. I also pick up on hints of prune juice, and other dark pit fruits. Nice yeasty pumpernickel finish… fruity and becomes longer as the beer warms to almost room temp. Overall, it all finds a nice equilibrium and becomes a tasty drink! Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA

Nice brown rubyish brown color, small tan head that faded quickly leaving just a small mound in the middle. The aroma was caramel and maybe a bit of toffee, malty and mildly sweet.Malty flavor some caramel and a bit of a burnt taste side towards the end of the tasting.slight bitterness in the very end.Over all not bad but then not great eather, but it’s worth trying again due to it’s easy drinking. dwyerpg (2553), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2005 Smokiness in the aroma, but in a bad way, but is balance w/caramel or molasses, which is nice. A nice brown color. Not a coomplex dark and not that heavy. A decent dunkel, although maybe below par for the syle to me. iam (369), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Aroma of lightly toasted caramel, some smokiness and a bit of banana. Light body.Taste is rather bland with some malt and a light hop bitterness to finish. The taste doesn’t live up to the expectations that you get from the aroma
