Brewhambone (5), eugene, Oregon, USA does not count Dec 9, 2007 Pours a cloudy, slightly orange color. Has a wonderful orange aroma. Easy drinking and adding a slice of orange is the only way to drink this. Not as impressed when out of bottles but on draft this is a great beer. RasputinsBeard (11), Why do you give a fuck?, Oregon, USA Sep 22, 2007 Right now you can only get this brew at Festivals or at the Rogue Public Houses. I had this brew at the Rogue Brewery in Newport Oregon. Here is my review: AROMA- the aroma was very inticing and I really appreciated the delicate floral notes brought in this beer; APPEARANCE- The brew had a slight hefe wiezen look to it. Unfiltered and cloudy with very little carbonation; TASTE- I really liked the taste of this brew. It was very very light and at only 12 IBU’s, it is not harsh or bitter in the least; MOUTHFEEL - Light and smooth; OVERALL- this brew is a great one to kick back and not worry about anything. Damn fine brew in my opinion. WABeerChick (25), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 19, 2005 I like this beer, and I gotta tell you, I feel kind of bad for liking it. I mean, look at the name -- Honey Orange Wheat? What about that name makes a hop head like -- well, nothing really. And the first batch out of this place was just okay. They must have changed something in the recipe because it is a nice beer now. It has a lot more to it. The aroma is less like tang and now has a is now a subtle sweet wheat. The appearance is wonderful - nice light color but not too clear like they have filtered the holy goodness out of it. Flavor is really balanced, not too fruity. Palate is clean. kieleszd (83), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Jun 9, 2008 This looks like a mead. It has a thick opaque look to it and has a refreshing, relaxing taste. You can really taste the honey and later the citrus note. This is the first great wheat ale I have found, truly diserving of an orange. RollinHard (543), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Jun 9, 2007 Growler from Rogue Alehouse in Newport. This was much more of a "wheat" to me than a "fruit" as far as style goes. Pours a cloudy gold/straw color that looks a little more tan than orangey. After visiting the Rogue brewery and taking in its strangely engrossing aroma of "beer processes," I was able to smell that in this beer. Totally smelled like the brewery, even if it’s not brewed there. Some orange, light cloves, light bread, sourdough, and a vague sense of something old. The malts and/or yeast smell like the brewery though, no other way to pinpoint it. Taste is fairly sweet, with a mild and perfect amount of citrus for this non-fruit lover. Wheat flavor is more effervescent than anything, and there’s some nice lingering earth. Mouthfeel was creamy and light and the carbonation was a bit lower than other wheat beers. The honey was aromatic and not necessarily sweet, making the flavor more interesting. Not my favorite wheat beer, but this was very good and had plenty going on.
