Nice orange color, good head. Aroma of roasted malts and some hops. Taste close to the nose. I am not a fan of ESB’s but this is really nice. Nice maltiness, nice hop balance, floral and some piney notes. Medium texture, easy to drink. Overall I was really impressed with this beer.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 15, 2009 20091115 12oz bottle from State Line. I’ve been hoping to come across something from these guys to help decide if I want to make the 2+ hr trek to the brewery. Dark amber, the color of a beer bottle, with a medium to small but lingering off white head of tight, lacing foam. Aroma is toasty and fruity, bread with marmalade, basic forest-like aromas. Body is a bit spritzy and somewhat light bodied, or at least it feels that way due to heavy handed carbonation. Flavors in line with aromas, light late malt sweetness is cut by eff and a quick leafy bitterness. Nice enough beer for a quaff but I bet it would be worlds better on cask where the mouthfeel could be toned down a bit. I don’t think a drive down to the brewery would be a mistake, that’s for sure. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 9, 2009 Draft at Phillips. Poured a dark amber with a large off-white head. Aroma is mainly of darker malts and pretty sweet. Some slight fruit as well. Taste is sweet with lots of caramel. Some spices and grassy flavors. Finish is hoppy and more bitter. It had a strange fruity characteristic that I couldn’t put my finger on. Overall pretty good. CaptainCougar (5472), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2009 On tap at Frisco Grille: Slightly hazy dark copper amber with a well-lacing airy froth of light tan head. Has a lightly sweet grainy dark caramel and toasty pale malty nose. Starts with good malty fullness with some dark caramel and light fruity sweetness with good resiny piny hop balance with a hint of milk chocolate before a drier bittersweet finish. Pretty good and drinkable ESB. l1br4r14n (286), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Poured a nice dark golden color with a thin off white head. aroma was some nice cirus hops with a good biscuit malty background. Finish was the perfect amount of bitterness for an ESB. Very nice offering from this brewery.
