Volo – Cask Fest 2009
Appearance: dark brown-black , rocky light top, nice tan.
Nose: Good roast aromas , clean barley feel ,semi dry end.
Flavor/Palate : Mid full bodied , low carbonation. Splendid frontal barley , good roast noted on top end and sides. Very proper. Light dryness noted. Well presented craftsmanship.

Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2009. Opaque brown-black pour, with a smallish frothy brown head. Solid slightly sweet roast caramel and nutty aroma, slightly boozy, with spices and licorice. The taste follows, but noticeable dry herbal hop bitterness in the mix, with sweet vanilla, more licorice and some sweet coffee notes emerging - iron/mineral and mid-level alcohol as it warmed. On the light side, but a good solid roastiness through to a dry finish - a pretty solid brew for a cask stout, not too big, and just soft enough on the palate.

On cask @ Volo cask days: Appearance: Pitch black, like motor oil, no head despite me severely swirling/agitating the beer in the glass. Aroma: Pumpkin, cinnamon, alcohol, spices, some red wine-ness to it, malt, liquorice and chocolate. Flavour: Taffy, ’black jacks’ candy, peat, coffee, chocolate, wine again, malty and with a long smoke finish

[2557-20091031] Cask. Coffee malt and mild chocolate aroma. Black body with a quick brown bubbly head. Super roasty malt flavour has lots of dry brewed coffee notes. Full body is thick. Nice stout, good balance.

Volo Cask Days 2009. Pretty basic stout, good roast, some nice hops, especially in the finish. A good solid stout. Nothing out of the ordinary.

2009 Volo Cask Days. Pours black, little head, with a good roasty stout aroma. Well hopped. Acidic however in its formulation with some strong herbs, i.e. sasaparilla, licorice. I get some fennel, anise. Still bold taste, and a good cask choice.Average mouthfeel.

Cask Days 2009 @ Bar Volo, Toronto, ON: Pours dark and appropriately, as jerc noted, "headless" haha. Heavy, boozy, roasted malt aroma. Extremely strong flavour of roast coffee, bourbon(?), and grass.. A bit watery but quite nice.

2009-10-31. Black body, headless. 3+ Dry roasty aroma, light herbal/coffee undertones. 7+ Flavour is similar, with dry roast malt and a touch of coffee like roast character, and something else I can not put my finger on. Finishes quite dry. Average plus palate. Cask at Volo Cask Days 2009
