Easily the best conditioned beer of the evening; thick creamy tan over mahogany, lacing all the way. Butter, fresh raspberry, blackcurrant and plum in the aroma. Proper balsamic zing of sour; more blackcurrant, Flemish cherry and caramel, hint of roast. Utterly baffling, and bordering on the undrinkable. If it’s intentionally soured, it’s balanced and brilliant. But it isn’t. johndoughty (2170), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England

Pours black with a little beige head. Taste is similar to aroma - fruity with a little sourness. Decent finish too. I found this very different from other beers I’ve tried - as Ian says below ’I rather like this’. Definitely not a run of the mill stout. Fin (3481), Merton, Oxfordshire, England

Black in colour with huge beige head. Aroma berries and a bit sour. Tasted very fruity, with sour edge, finished smoother but there was a dryness, this was a beer that at first I was unsure of but gradually warmed to, not bad but didn’t really come across as a typical stout. Yeasty mustyness and lightly roasted malt with berries. Fairly dry with a little acidity in the finish. This was alright but had a few rough edges that didnt seem quite right. duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 9, 2006 Bottle. Was very dissapointed with this. Black with brown edges. Aroma is a little odd, smelt quite pale to me and the flavour wasn’t very dark either, there was some leathery sort of honey characters and a sweet flat malt character, some dark fruit i suppose, but quite dry for dark fruit flavours. Not much intensity in the flavour. I’m not sure this beer really knows what it wants to be be. Odd.
