Hazy orange colour with rich head. Pale malty aroma, along with pepper. Dry beer here with great pale, bit tart maltiness and a good blend of spices, such as rosemary, thyme and juniper.
TURDFERGUSON (1000), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Jul 15, 2008 750 shared by dickinsonbeer. Estimated to be ~5 years old. Pours a beautiful deep orange wirh a small everlasting white head. Nose is earthy, fatome-like yeast, sourness. Flabor is similar with more chewy malts, and fantome house character. Very nice and interesting saison. I would expect nothing less from fantome. fordest (1655), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jun 28, 2008 750 ml bottle sampled at Alesmith BA Release line tasting. Lots of tart aromas with fruit and touches of flower. More sour fruit on the flavor with still some spice and floral notes underneath. One tasty saison. tytoanderso (1152), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA Jun 19, 2008 750ml. Pours a pretty, hazed dark peach skin with a quickly diminishing frothy white head. Tart and dusty aroma. Tartness increases more as the beer opens up in the glass. Green apple skin, dried grass, white pepper. Plenty of dank and moderately funky yeast esters. Some interesting spiced caramel confection aroma as well. Flavor is mildly tart, cobwebby, with a substantial (and somewhat surprising) caramel malt presence. Caramel glazed green apple skins. White pepper, funky yeast, delicious. Leaning toward full bodied, especially for a saison. Finishes with loads of apple skin tartness and a touch of earthiness. Nice! Thanks Sebastian! Odeed (1429), Bakersfield, California, USA Jun 14, 2008 (sample from toncatcher)i gotta say i really liked this.sour but still full of other flavors.such as pepper, fruit, yeast, and caramel malt.pretty nice stuff. stefanje (479), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jun 13, 2008 750 bottle sampled at BA speedway line tasting courtesy of Toncatcher. Pours a fizzy yellow gold with a small white head. The aroma is pungent with funky yeasts. The flavor is ripe with sour grapes and tart berries, pepper and brett. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side. The finish is medium in duration and sour. Overall: Not your typical saison but still very unique and enjoyable.
