haukur (667), Reykjavik, Iceland Apr 17, 2004 Updated: Jul 5, 2006simply wonderful! the aroma filled the room when I poured, smells of candy apples, spring, farmhouse with some sweet tones. Taste was explosive, not as acid as I would have expected, taste was of green apples, berrys, some hints of pine, yeasty, with a perfect balance of hops and malt. Extremly carbonated, which was very good. Farmhouse feeling, a some nostalgia, I was in heaven picturing myself on a quiet riverbank somewhere in Europe, with trees all around, clear skys and heat .. my god this is good! Extremly complex! edit : I was tempting to give this a perfect score when I rated this first, and that just what it deserves. Perfect saison !! jeffc666 (1821), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Jun 15, 2004 Typical massive Fantome head. Very dense and creamy and a very nice ivory color. The orange body is quite cloudy. This beer looks freaking incredible in the glass! The aroma is spicy and bready with hints of fresh friuts, smells like a Fantome. What flavors, no particular flavor stands out but there are many of them swirling about in there. Simply amazing how the flavors are so subtle but yet they all work together to create an amazing overall experience. The palate is also amazing, smooth with a good amount of bitterness that creeps up on you. Very clean spicy finish. An exceptional offering from a wonderful brewery. Thanks a bunch to Indra for sending this my way. The eagle has truly landed! unclebleen (620), California, USA Nov 27, 2004 pours a nice golden color with a billowly head. aroma is very fantome...nice spiciness with awesome fruit...really fresh fruit aroma whatever that means exactly. the aroma has bits of everything i like in beer. the flavor is just brilliant. slightly spicy, slightly bitter, slightly dry...it’s really a multi-stage beer..it continues to develop through the swallw and glass. wow, this is pretty amazing. Glouglouburp (2006), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 19, 2007 Updated: Dec 11, 2007Cloudy orange-copper body with a small tan head. Aggressive nose of citric funk. I love it. Taste is very funky and very acidic. Really full body filled with crunchy toasted grains, orange peels, herbal spices. There’s also some fruity notes and some citrusy hops in there but overall it is the intense funky tartness that dominates the taste. Acidity level that rivals that of many lambics. Very dry and intense wild beer that ends-up feeling like a cross between a Saison and a Gueuze. A truly unique beer, wilder than a sailor on shore leave. SG (456), San Clemente, California, USA May 26, 2004 Updated: Aug 18, 2004Orange/golden hue with nice lacing. Overall this has super quality. The flavor is spicy, yeasty, and finishes with a ton of crazy flavors. Slight barnyard notes, fruity, citrusy, and sweet. Fabulous. It is much cleaner than other Fantome offerings, and very light on the palate. Slightly dry finish. Straight-forward. Highly recommended!
