(on bottle) colored orange like in "orange". White head. Abricot and pepper in aroma. Slightly molded, waterish mouth. Sour, flat, no real malty things going on here.

The aroma has pepper, paint, carpets, plastic, and yeast. The appearance is deep gold amber with a foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall this is not doing it for me.

(Sample Date: 3/14/2009 Source:Other) Really earthy moldy aroma. Slightly cloudy light golden. Peach pear fruitiness and a light sourness, touch of wood with a dry finish. Oak and peppery yeast character.

My bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- c/o TheEpeeist. Pours a cloudy dark orange with a large frothy white head. Good lacing on the glass. Aroma: Whoa, lots of black pepper! Also funky and yeasty along with some malt and grapefruit. Flavour, again, of lots of black pepper along with grapefruit, funky yeast and biscuity malt. Medium bodied. I love black pepper so this is awesome, as usual.

Always happy to try a Fantome, this one at the Richmond Gathering courtesy of dkachur. Hazy brown. Aroma was of potting soil. Flavor was complex - rich earthy loam, apricot, and peach. Nice and typically unique from this brewery. Never tasted anything quite like this before.
