Commercial Description:
With joy and a little bit of mischief, Fantôme brewer Dany Prignon dedicates this very bitter beer to all of the many varieties of brise-bonbons - literally, ball-breakers - in the world. Specifically, this beer is meant for wise-guys, braggarts, pains-in-the-ass, muck-rakers, troublemakers, know-it-alls, stuffed-shirts, blow-hards and bores, as well as nut-cracking, wind-bag, prattling-on, self-appointed experts on everything, and nose-in-the-air snobs, convinced they can do anything better than you. Dany intended to make a beer too bitter for a normal person to enjoy. The problem is, everyone loves it! Guess we're all just a bunch of brise-bonbons sometimes...

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Shachar. Hazy orange color with a white head. Aroma is flowery with some yeast, grainy notes, some funky character and fruits. Very bitter flavor with fresh fruits, some grassy and citric notes and some spicy funky hints. Medium-bodied. Mmm... Bitter... Refreshing.

Slightly funky straw-like aroma. Must have an older bottle, as this is not very bitter at all. It is rather tart and quite drinkable, though. Flavor reminds me uncannily of a Arnold Palmer - a blend of lemonade and iced tea.

From an undated 750ml bottle. Aromas of citrus, pine, and a little bit of horseblanket. Flavors of lemon, sour grapes, and some peat with a sour finish. The hops have faded quite a bit but it is still quite nice. A very interested beer that reminds me more of a sour ale than a saison.

Murky orange, long lasting off-white head, excellent lacing.
Aroma is yeasty, musty, lots of lemon citrus, light alcohol, flowers.
Flavour is light sweet, some peppery spice, grass, alcohol, some candy.
Warming bitter mouthfeel, medium body, med/high carb.
Finishes long, warm, bitter and dry.

Very good. Very high drinkability. Another amazing Fantome.

750ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheCheeseMan, thanks Dan.

Opened on March 26, 2009.

No date.

Bottle, 75cl. It’s a hazy, orange beer with a minimal-sized white head. Berries, citrus and hints of cellar on the nose. The flavor has a sour, acidic fruityness, and a touch of berries and flower. Medium body with some astringency and quite a lot of carbonation. A quite nice beer, but a bit odd for my likings. 090822.

Bottle. 25.4 oz. Split with Braden. Pours murky, hazy brownish orange, with a thing white head. Beautiful sedinmentation. Aroma of pear, lemon, wheat, soil, and hints of caramel. Medium to full bodied. Sweet, sugary mouthfeel with a tangy, tart, clean finish. Very good saison.

750 ml bottle from a trade with boutip. 2005 vintage. slow gusher. pours hazed orange with a huge tan head. aroma of red apple skin, white wine, pale malt decay. flavour slight wild sourness, some lemon, some dust, very very old hops memories. its crazy to think that this beer was not meant to age yet 4+ years in the bottle have left it this enjoyable. if i ever get the opportunity to try this beer again i hope its a fresher bottle but if i dont ill at least know where it stands 4 years deep.

At a tasting, many thanks Shachar, very hazy lemon colour, aromas of grass and flowers with notes of sugar cane, flavours of grapefruit, peach and apricot and nuts which also dominates a very mellow aftertaste, and apleasant solid bitterness, good.
