Pipper (227), Ohio, USA Nov 18, 2009 I love the story behind the Pissenlit first and foremost. Anyways, 750 from Grapes of Mirth, poured into tumbler. Really beautiful clear, bright amber pour, towards the end poured more like a nice cloudy cider with plenty of sediment. Taste is also bright, a bit tart and a a little funky with the yeast. A nice little saison. ricke (186), Malme, Sweden Nov 16, 2009 Hazy orange with a medium-sized off-white head. Some lacings.
The aroma is really strange and hard to pinpoint. Malts reminiscent of wheat crackers, a lot of odd spices, some herbal notes. Notes of lemon and yeast.
The taste is better than the smell, but still very strange. Somewhat sweet and mildly tart flavors. Notes of malts, odd spices, fresh herbal notes, grass and earthy yeast. Perhaps something in the line of dandelions, but I might be reading to much into this. The finish is mildly bitter and somewhat spicy with notes of malts. Thankfully this one developed nicely in the glass. At first, it was quite bad, but it got better and after a while I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.
Medium body with somewhat lively carbonation.
A strange beer. Decent at best. Very interesting, but flavor-wise it’s not very impressive.

(Copy of old Beer Advocate review) markwise (1175), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Nov 13, 2009 Big thanks to jdubfl for sharing this one. Pours hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is lactic, acid, malt, citrus, flowers, herbs, tartness, astringency, and a hint of earthy meadow. Flavor is about the same with plant and meadow notes in all of the sour flavor. Excellent beer with acidic qualities blending into a unique saison. dand645 (85), Bayonne, New Jersey, USA Nov 10, 2009 Bright yellow color, very piss-like...lots of sediment...was a bit dissapointed here...a lot of the flavors seemed muted by the grassy aspect eaglefan538 (2358), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Nov 9, 2009 Bottle from SL. Poured a straw gold-orange to murky orange color by the bottom of the bottle. The aroma was lemons, light fruits, and I suppose a dandelion / floral aspect. The flavor was sweet-tart-y honey and faint caramel underneath tart citrus, grassy flavors. This thing was lacking an expressive carbonation, and although there was definite black pepper and Fantome spicing in there, both the carbonation and spicing were way underplayed here. BrianDorry55 (117), Spring Hill, Florida, USA Nov 4, 2009 750ml from Knightly Spirits. Pours caramel colored with a thick white head...i mean thick! Aroma is grass, honey, and caramel malts. Flavor is florals, vinegar, grapefruit, lemon...quite champagney...but good. Medium, sticky mouthfeel with a sour puckering effect. Overall...I really like this beer...I like saison but theyre not my favorte by any means...but this was good...happy to have my first saison brew and thanks to the guys at Knightly for hooking me up! tokyogoat (507), San Diego, California, USA Oct 25, 2009 Pours a flat yellowy-peach with little fetuses floating throughout it.
Nose is peaches, herbs, bark, lemon peel.
Taste is heavily floral with a bizarre fruity juicy syrupy finish. yobdoog (1431), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Oct 22, 2009 Cloudy dark orange color with a small fluffy dense head. Aroma is floral, sweet and fruity. Flavor is sweet, fruity, slightly sour, lemon, juicy. Really delicious.
