fiver29 (703), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 18, 2009 Bottle pours cloudy amber color with white head. Aroma is yeast spice, wood, and peppery notes. Voluptuous mouthfeel with a lot of tiny bubbles for carbonation. Flavor is bready, yeasty, floral hop notes, some light fruit, and finishes dry. I don’t really like saison style beers. This is one of those rare exceptions. Its fantastic. Just what the doctor ordered on a hot summer day. Very light and refreshing. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Jul 18, 2009 Gold color with a quickly falling medium head. Aroma of wheat, banana, a light breadiness and some floral hints. Strong, dry wheat flavor. Some muddled floral notes. Light yeast character. A very light, tart lemon towards the finish. Ends dry. ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Jul 15, 2009 Hazy & bright amber pour. Thin, short lived off white head. Aroma is grass, yeast, light spice, and barnyard. Bigsilky (322), Charleston, USA Jun 29, 2009 After another June day in Charleston without AC this is certainly the beer equivilant of morphine. Beneath the satiny foam cape tiny beads of CO2 can be seen gliding to the top. Fresh, ripe, bartlett pear on the nose with a grassy hop spice and crisp minerality. Champagne-like? This gives underripe pinot noir a run for it’s money. Soft malt roundness, almost a super Kolsch like fruitiness gives way to a dry white-wine finish leaving a touch of pinot blanc fruit. Critisism is two fold: Not enough made, and too damn drinkable for 8%! The fact that the recipe changes and the brewery has consistency issues drives up the points on this beer for me. I like suprises. 95 emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 24, 2009 Pours a hazy golden orange with a thin crackly white head. Very nice with some sunlight hitting it. The nose shows some orange peel, nice yeasty character, earthy, nice barnyard funk, some spice coming through, mild sweetness, cardammom/coriander? The flavor is very nice, especially with this weather. Nice and crisp, light, easy to drink. Lots of character, orange rind, spice, yeasty funk, estery, some sweetness. Nice spicy palate with a nice carbonation. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Jun 13, 2009 Bottle. Somewhat hazy amber beer with an off-white head. Light hay, honey, and malt aroma. Tart, light sour, lemon, and green apple flavor with hay and light malt. Medium bodied. Sourness lingers with a light acetic note, lemon, and hay. Great balance. Very refreshing.
