Commercial Description:
This is a delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

Easily the best beer of the weekend. Pours hazy yellow with a big, rocky white head. Thick lacing. Funky sweet aroma with candied fruits. A wonderful taste for a saison. Lots of sweet oranges, strawberries, and plums. Sour yeast balances out the sweet and lets out the pepper and spice. Loved this beer.

Hazy, like someone punched me in the stomach and I have to pee. Oh, that smells fantastic. Aroma is sourness, a little bit of maltiness, a lot of lactic sourness and some strange weird lightness of aroma. Taste is sour, funky strange bubble gum, and fruity. Definitely a saison with the yeastiness and bubblegum and sourness. Finishes sour and a little bit salty. Yum!

Bottle at Delirium, Brussels, Belgium, 26-07-08 Hazy gold pouring beer with white head. Rusic notes on the aroma a sour edge some potato peelings in mouth along with some caperberries at times. Surprisingly dry and also with a touch of sweetness, nice beer indeed.

This beer pours with a large head that is fizzy in appearance. The head color is white with excellent lacing. The head longevity is mostly lasting and the body of the beer has a murky, cloudy appearance. The body hue is a medium yellow color. The initial flavor is sweet and the finish is lightly yeasty and bitterey. The body is light to medium according to the palate and the texture is dry. The carbonation is lively and the finish feel is slightly metallic.

Pours with a thick white head covering a hazy yellow body shimmering with small particles. Really strong lacing. Aroma is amazingly fruity with strong notes of strawberry (a first in a beer for me), madirin oranges and black pepper. Lightly fruity, and agains trawberry taste that ends yeast and peppery. Lively bubbles.

Pours orange/gold with small white head. Aroma of horseblanket, funky basement, yeast and oak. Taste is grassy, slightly sweet, tart, lemon, citrus, pepper, spice, heavy yeast. A bit heavy for me for a saison, but still good.

750ml from my Secret Santa, tytoanderso - thanks, Tyler! Long a favorite, this one is even better than I remember. A deep honeyed, golden/orange pour with a decent head and nicely sticky lacing, the aroma is so strong and funky. Initial sour notes give way to a very complex yeast character that is musty, vinous, and reminds me of lovely goat cheese somehow. Deliciously light on the palate, with zesty hops enlivening the whole. Man, this stuff just rocks.
