Commercial Description:
This is a delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

Bottle.

Pours a hazy rich orange-tinged gold with a nice fluffy white head. Tart aroma (pineapple and pear, citrus), mild rustic notes. The flavor is driven heavily by a sort of tangerine and muscat fruitiness that I didn’t expect; sour but not strongly so, sweet from the tangerine and laced with orange peel and spice. Easy drinking but with a satisfying full mouthfeel. For me this one wasn’t quite as dry or quite as rustic as some of my favorite saisons, instead quite strong on the spices and fruit, but it was nevertheless a very enjoyable and interesting beer. I’m quite curious at this stage to see how my second bottle changes in character with a few more years on it.

The color was cloudy yellow. The head was creamy, thin, and white. The aroma was lemon-grass, citris, sour, and musty. The flavor was the same. the palate was thin-bodied. The finish was tart.

Pours a nice soft hazy gold with a one finger white head. The aroma was fruity, smelled starfruit, musty Brett aroma, muscadine grapes, a little grassy. The flavor is light, sweet, tart, bretty, lemongrass, fruity, a little funky, slightly grassy. The 8% is well hidden and the mouthfeel is nice, a little tart and smooth carbonation. Finishes sweet and a little dry.

Weak white head. Cloudy orange colour. Aroma is malty, fruity with apricots and citrus notes. Flavor is fruity too with orange jam and light sour tones, ending in a sweet fruity finish. Medium bodied.

My third 3.9 in a row!!!!!!!! haha Anyway, I liked this beer very much. A nice looking beer with a great big head. Smell is lightly funky, and a little unforgivably skunky. The flavor is spicy, and sharply bitter, with just a little funk. The beer has a mouth feel very similar to champagne.

Aroma is tart, lightly fruit.. pear? Slightly acidic. Cloudy golden color, thin light head, Serious dark sediment in the last pour. Decent lacing. Great carbonation. Flavor has light fruits in it, grape or pear? Lightly spiced. Another great saison from Fantome.
