Commercial Description:
This is a delicious, textural, and fizzy county ale, bright gold colour, citric and sour, reminiscent of a good champagne or lambic but in a class all its own.
Fantôme – Golden ale, 8% alc. by volume, with a wonderfully musty and characterful aroma. There are many drinkers out there who believe this is the “Nectar of the Gods.” Certainly no other brewer makes beer like this, in Belgium or anywhere. How many beers of 8% plus offer such fresh fruitiness? A solid Belgian saison beer at its base, with an unusual overlay of fruitiness.

Bottle, 750 mL: Cloudy light orange, big diminishing white hilly head. Aroma is filled with yeast (breads), light citrus (oranges, lemons)and outdoor barnyard. Flavor is tart citrus (exactly what I am looking for, lemons and green apples), mild spice and gueuze-like sourness in background. Lively, tickling, mouthfeel from splendid carbonation. Another good saison.

I purchased this at Half Time and feel the lighting there may have effected the green bottle and added some skunkyness. I kept it in a crate in the basement after. I enjoyed the sourness but it was a bit to acidic. It seemed pretty fruity as advertized and that was refelected in the aroma. Rerate 8-8-08: I sense a heavy apple tone amidst the acidity which I have adapted too-I think its a bit watered down now. Its amazing how my palate has changed since I joined RB a few years ago. The flavor does not totally excel as much as the aroma does.

Peach in colour with lots of carbonation. Fantastically fruity and yeasty in both the nose and the mouth. There are minor notes of barnyard, and various spices. Light and refreshing on the palate, without compromising its complexity. Perhaps the epitome of the saison style?

This light orange summer ale poured with no head, eliciting a sour fruity aroma. There was a gueuze-like initial flavor with a flatter finish. The flavor improved as the glass emptied.

Brilliant! Yellow gold in colour, very hazy. Wonderful fresh fruit aroma, with some citrus and sour notes. Flavour is very fruity, with some mild spice. Very refreshing, and alcohol is perfectly disguised. Wonderful stuff.

Pours a hazy light orange color with a thin white head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Appealing aroma of spices and perfume with a mild touch of earthy and funky tones. Flavor of citrus, spices and perfume with mild earthyness and funkyness. The body is light to medium, the texture creamy and dry, the carbonation is soft.

[Bottle at "the Mondiale"] Hazy orange-yellow with a huge, fuzzy and rocky, lasting head that formed okay lacing. Yeasty, woody, grape, apricot, and hops fill the aroma with some sweet malt. Dry, woody grape flavour with some sweet yeast. Notes of apricot, tart peach and apple. Tingly sweet and not alcoholic tasting. Warming in the mouth with plenty of carbonation and a clean finish. Excellent.
