Big C hop aroma with some lightly sweet malts. Flavor starts with a slight malty sweetness, plenty of grapefruity hop flavors. Finishes fairly bitter. Not bad at all. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2004 Nice IPA! Pours deep amber/copper with a huge ’had-to-run-to-the-sink’ kind of head which lasts a good long time. Aroma is sharply hoppy, very nice! The hops seem to settle out of it after a minute and it takes on a very sweet caramel malt aroma. Hops wallop (tee hee) your tongue, flavor wise, but the malt stands up quite well. It’s medium bodied, perfectly carbonated, and finishes dry with a pleasant lingering bitterness. I really enjoy this one. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 26, 2004 Pours a cloudy copper color with floating particles throughout the beer. Strong grapefruit aromas combined with a hint of other citrusy fruits dominates the nose. Again, grapefruit reigns over the citrusy flavors and the finish is a gentle hop bitterness that lingers long after the last sip. I don't think I'd consider this one a classic but it's highly recommended. I'll be seeking another one out real soon. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 7, 2004 Coppery hued with a large frothy head that settles nicely and produces a good lace. The aroma hints of pine, grapefruit, apple, biscuit and bready malts, floral, and dusty yeast esters. The taste starts citrusy and bitter but not overpowering, sublime really with good malty background. The finish is smooth and mildly bitter, again good balance shown. The mouthfeel is a tad watery, lively, and smooth. This is a darn solid IPA, with good enough bitterness for hopheads yet isn't overblown, outstanding balance. Recommended. Thanks loweredsixth for the bottle.
