argo0 (6167), Washington DC, USA Oct 4, 2005 (GABF05) Clear light ambr body with off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, floral, orange, light grapefruit. Taste is sweeter, but otherwise the same as aroma. Light-medium body. DarkElf (2650), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 1, 2005 (Draft: Celtic Bayou in Redmond, WA) Quite sweet and fruity for an ESB, so not really to style, but still quite tasty. Moderate caramel and a bit of gentle roast contributes to the "amber" feel of this beer, and with hops only lending a partial degree of balance, it’s as bitter as many ambers on the market. The nose is quite sweet and caramely as well. Medium "plus" body from the malty sweetness. Light amber color, fully clear in appearance. Off-white head quickly recedes to a ring, and any attempts to revive the head suceed for only a few seconds before fading away again. Some intricate lacing at the top of the glass. I’m typically not a fan of amber beers, and since this resembles an amber more than an ESB, I’m only marginally enthused with it. Still, it’s decent enough, but sweet and caramely enough that drinking more than one of these could be tough.
