DarkElf (2661), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 1, 2005 (Draft: Celtic Bayou in Redmond, WA) Grainy and moderately sweet, but with a modest sour aroma, this seems like it might be the standard sweet blonde ale. It’s not an especially flavorful beer, but as a blonde ale go, it’s not bad. Mildly sweet, fruity, and fairly grainy, the slight tartness indeed shows up in the flavor, breaking up the sweetness that normally pervades this style. Light bodied, but not watery. Straw colored, and clear in appearance. Whitish head settles to a thin, broken layer, leaving a few spots of lace on the glass. Not my style, but this was at least average, and it didn’t offend me. Coming from me, that’s a pretty nice complement for a blonde ale.
