Commercial Description:
Hearty and wine-dark, with a rich, smoky taste, Three Threads Porter takes its name from 19th-century taverns where, at the end of each day, brewers combined different batch strengths, called "threads." Their customers were often dockside workers—or porters.

Beer pours dark brown, though not at all black, with a BIG tan head that is retained. There is significant lacing. Aroma is quite enticing with strong notes of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, and a touch of smoke. This is very encouraging so far. Flavors present are coffee, chocolate milk, and a touch of smoke. This is to me a very pleasurable drinking experience.

Very robust and roasty. Has a sweet stickiness to it, this could really pass as a stout if the label was different. Only a pinch of bitterness and alcohol at the end. I'm starting to like what this brewery has to offer.

Pours a very dark brown with a typical head. The first pour didn't leave much lace but the second pour's was quite nice. Smells of chocolate, coffee, and grainy malt, though a bit more intense than the standard porter. Taste is nice and improves as the beer warms. Definate chocolate and coffee, but well balanced. Some darker fruits hide in the afterglow. Mouthfeel is a bit thicker than standard, which is nice. Overall this is a very nice Porter - coming from a guy who isn't a huge Porter fan.

The color on the pour a deep dark garnet to almost brown with a Bunyanesque sized head that is creamy in texture and a nice medium tan in color, the lace a thick and glutinous blanket upon the glass. Nose that of lightly toasted grain, malt sweet, refreshing crisp and pleasing to the senses, with light hints of coffee and bittersweet chocolate, start is sweet and thickly malt with the middle rich and middling in feel. The finish is pleasingly acidic, the hops delectable in their spiciness, very dry bittersweet aftertaste than lingers longingly on the palate. My first beer from this brewery and you can bet your garters it won’t be my last, quite a quaffable brew tis true’.

Creamy and rich milk aroma. A good regular porter with hints of berries, wood and chocolate, with a good malt backing and minimal hops.

Nice black color, small head that faded quickly but managed to leave a faint lace behind. The aroma was roasty malt and chocolate with maybe a hint of caramel. The taste was very good malty and nicely roasty with a nice semi-sweet chocolate and mild hops appearance, faint smokey presence and a mild spicey tone to it towards the end of the tasting. The flavors really get better as the brew warms the smoke gets just a tad stronger but the chocolate and spicey notes really come through.Making this a very nice brew for having around.Well worth getting if you can find it.

Dark black color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and vanilla. A full to medium bodied porter. Malts are choclately and a little nutty in the roasting. Hops are slightly spicy. Nicely balanced. Creamy smooth mouthfeel. There is also a very slight touch of wood and smoke. Finishes with a nice mix of chocolate and vanilla. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
