Rune (1658), Tromsø, Norway May 20, 2008 500ml bottle. Golden coloured body with a slight haze. Just a single patch on the surface. Mild smoky malts in aroma with hints of fruits. Citrus fruit in flavour added by spices. Low bitterness. Easy going drink (Swan Hotel, Maldon 05.05.2008). Finn (1085), Tromsø, Norway May 19, 2008 Bottle 0,5l. Unclear. A shortlived soapy head. Weak aroma of sourish fruit. A bit too carbonated. Undeterminable flavor but there is some fruity malt. Modest fruity finish. Not the best from the brewery. fonefan (4468), Ulfborg, Denmark Aug 15, 2007 Cask gravity @ The Blue Boar Hotel, CM9 Maldon. Clear dark yellow color with virtually none head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, bread, toffee, light hoppy, dusty / earthy. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. The second time I’ve sampled the beer The first time it was the end of the firkin and a little acidic. This time a light coloured ale, hoppy on the nose, sweetish on first sip with a bitter aftertaste on the palete that lingers niceley. Not too fruity like many golden ales. A good lunchtime session beer even though it’s getting on the stron side for that.
chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England Dec 17, 2006 Cask (gravity dispense) at London Drinker Beer Festival (Friday session), March 2006. Straw colour. Not the most zesty or assertive of golden ales but there are touches of citrus in the mix. But there’s also a more robust, rustic, traditional UK hop presence as well. Generally quite subtle and easy-drinking, with modest bitterness. A very pleasant, well-tempered beer.
