Commercial Description:
Pale gold, bubbly, seriously dry. Richly aromatic, suggesting myriad fruits of the earth, and the earth itself, with a complex, palate-cleansing balance of fruitiness, astringency, and acid. Alcohol content 7.5% by volume. Full cork closure, 750 ml. bottle. Delicious with many foods, much as the driest champagne can be.

First cider on cask for me. Nice strong aroma of apples and some citrus. Flavor is sweet, sour, apples, skin, some grapes. A bit thin but still fun.

This corked and caged bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of frothy finely sized white colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a transparent softly carbonated orange brown colored body. The mild aroma was thin apple. The initially bubbly fizzy mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish. Strong and tingly yet thin and lambic like mild sourness with a very dry green apple note. The flavor contained notes of sweet sour dry green apple. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again.

Location: Cask at Jimmy’s No 43, 9/14/09
Part of the Gotham Cask Festival

Overall Impression: Swung by Jimmy’s the day after the Cask Festival ended, and this was the one remaining cask they still had going, so I figured I’d give it a sampling. An interesting cider, but not a style I’m particularly in love with. Tasty and drinkable, just not something I like to drink regularly.

Bottle. Pours with a clear yellow body and a withering white ring. Aroma of strong dry apples, light sweetness, cork and earth. Taste is bone dry with sulfur...dry, dry, dry... tannic with a touch of citrus. Bubbly, but not super lively bubbles.

From a 750 ml bottle. The body is medium gold with a thin white head. The aroma is woody with some tart apples. There is also a little bit of earthy nutmeg. The body is light with a small amount of carbonation. The taste is lightly tart, but truns dry immediately. There is a little bit of apple core in here. A decent cider with a little bit of a vinous character.

Bottle sampled on 9/15/07: Pours a transparent pale golden with a nicely-lacing spotty white head. Aroma of fresh tart apples and a touch of sweet fruitiness. Body starts lightly sweet with good crisp tartness and apple flavor toward a thinner, but very drinkable finish. A nice cider.

I like ciders. They were good to me when the ABV law in GA was 6%. Poured a clear light golden yellow color. Crisp sweet apple aroma of both red and green apples. Sweet and full. The flavor was lightly acidic. Sweet apple start with a crisp dry finish.

Pale straw colour, some apple skin tannins. Dusty and dry with a fairly crisp tartness. Lean body. Very fizzy and tart. Light wildness with some late dryness. Another lovely cider from Farnum.
