Commercial Description:
Ruddy orange in color, this unfiltered wheat beer enjoys a spicy aroma that hints at raisin, clove, banana , and bubblegum. Full bodied yet very easy drinking with a toasted caramel malt finish.

Tap, @ Fat Head’s. Pours a murky amber body with a minimal off-white head that receded to a thin ring. Fruity estery nose of banana bread, yeast, and a little clove. The flavor is huge on the yeast character, lots of banana and yeast, earthy wheat, and minimal to no noticeable alcohol. Thick and creamy on the palate with moderate fizzy carbonation. Nice lengthy finish. Pretty decent, but I thought that it was missing that little twang that I like in Weizen Bocks.

On tap at brewpub
My second sample was this weizenbock which must have gone on tap within the last few months as it was not on in August. This was very solid; if I had more time to hang around I would have chosen a pint of this.

Aroma / Appearance - Cloudy with a chocolately brown tint and thin head this was a dark and inviting tone. Bubblegum, raisins, nut bread, and orange creamsicle ice cream nailed the description on the beer list. Heavy and potent it hung in the air like smog.

Flavor / Palate - Chocolate chip raisin nut bread is rich and sweet on the tongue. Dense with a squeeze of citrus and cloves the chewy mouthfeel takes time to break down. Very solid, complex, and tasty this is one of the best weizenbocks I have tried in recent memory. It makes me want to track down more except for the pesky backlog in the cellar.

Sample at the brewpub. Opaque amber pour with a medium off-white head. Banana and bubblegum nose with some candi sugar and clove. Clove is the first thing that hits the tongue before the bananas and bubblegum take over. Semi-sweet finish. It must be a good Weizenbock because I don’t care much for it. I can definitely respect it though.

a deep, hazy brown appearance, and bubble gum/banana aroma- flavor- a good amount of phenols coming out of this, and some smokey unpleasantness in the back. But, overall, a decent beer if you are into this style which admittedly, I am not.

On tap at the brewpub pours murky brownish color with off white head. Aroma is mainly clove and banana. Opulent mouthfeel. Flavor is banana, clove, has an almost burnt raisin touch, and finishes with a caramel roast finish. I enjoyed this one a lot.

On tap, poured a dark, extremely murky, mahogany, with a nice fluffy head. Aormas of clove and banana with some nice maltiness. Very smooth flavor that incorporates the banana/clove flavor with some caramel sweetness and a bit a toastiness. Easy drinker and another nice beer from Fat Head’s.
