Pours bright amber with a touch of haze under a large head that leaves a sticky, giraffe-back lacing as it falls. From the first whiffs of the aroma, I’m convinced I’m going to enjoy this brew. Raisiny cookie-dough malts over dry wheat followed by lemongrass hops that strive to be citric. As it warms, some fat alcohol notes weasel in (oh... I get it now). Flavor turns out a little disappointing, kinda tasting like a weak Dunkel crossed with a Bohemian Pilsener. Non-descript sweet malts precede an herbal, grassy bitterness, all the while injected with some alcohol notes that further thin the flavors. Not bad and quite the little whopper at 7.1%. I’d buy again for that reason alone.

This is another contract brew by the Firestone Walker Brewing Company labled Stienhaus Brewery and sold by Trader Joes. There is a very similar named brew with an almost identical lable called Fat Weasel Amber Ale which is pretty bad. This is actually somewhat better. Poured a medium yellow color with a large foamy head that left moderate lacing. Nose is mild malts and some hops.. Mouithfeel is watery, and flavor are of light malts and milld hops. A very average brew. Not remarkable, but not bad either.

Yeah, I was walking home from work today and this guy gave me one for free...the beer had very little flavor. No body, but there was some alcohol present. Id never buy it though.

By the sight of this thing it’s not an amber ale. The color is actually a creamy pale yellow. Froth is shallow and semi creamy w/ partial lacing after dissipation. Aromas of sweet grains. Medium nectar w/ soft residual effers. This brew drinks like a marzen almost w/ it’s malty sweetness and hay like nuances. Then it’s 7% so maybe it’s just a decent malt liquor. At any rate it’s not an amber ale by any means. The finish is slightly bittered. Overall: the value excedes the quality but I’m not poor so...I’ll pour me another Ale Smith =)

12oz bottle-An aroma of hops and slight malt on a light amber with a nice white head. Taste of hops with some citrus and a little malt. This doesn’t seem to be an amber but a pale. Not a bad beer. This is more of what I expect from August Schell. Contract brewed by them.

Pours light amber with a medium white head. Floral citrus hop nose with a good caramelized malt flavor. Nicely balanced pale with a good citrus hop finish. Could be a little sweeter up front.

12oz bottle. Mixed six from TJ’s. Filtered and golden amber. Little caramel. Burnt malts. Sweet initially, then a toasty flavor. Finishes with bitter citrusy dry hops. Kinda clumsy transition. Meh.

Bottle; Nose of citrus and malt with some pine; Amber with a medium off-white head and lots of fizz! Flavor shows some caramel and citrus with a little hops showing in the finish!
