| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 4, 2008 12 oz. bottle, made by Schell’s. Unlike the Trader Joe’s Jumping Cow amber I had yesterday, this one has a bit more ruddy malt, under a white, slightly lacy head. Could almost pass for a Honker’s Ale. Taste shows a little more hop bite than the JC, too. Citrussy bite of NW hops, but not a lot. My label claims 7.1% alcohol. Still, it goes down pretty quickly, and forgettably. Not too bad for a "store brand" beer from the provisioners of "Two Buck Chuck." badlizard (2396), Berkeley, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 5, 2007 350 ml bottle from TJs. Clear golden amber with a fizzy white head. Sweet aroma with noticeable hops. Crisp citrus taste with a sweet floral finish. boFNjackson (1324), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Bottle... Poured straw with a fizzy head. Malt aroma, maybe some grain or a yeasty presence too. Starts off fruity and punchy with hops and malt, but the finish is weak. It seems like they had this idea for a beer, and they were going with it, and than gave up somewhere. Anyway, this page says it’s an amber, the sign at trader joes says its a Belgium influenced beer... I’m confused? drewbeerme (2315), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Oct 15, 2007 12oz bottle, Firestone Walker version. pours copper-straw color with small white head. nose is really grainy. flavor is sweeter than expected, lots of grainy and corny sweetness and good dose of bitterness for some balance. too adjuncty and sweet. why does this need 7.2%abv? this also tastes like no amber i’ve ever had. more like a malt liquor. not horrible at first but at around sip 5 it gets pretty gross. obguthr (1078), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Sep 14, 2007 Honey and hay aroma, the intermingling of which approaches gasoline, but not quite.Clear amber color, no head and little carbonation to be seen. Flavorless but with a sweet and slightly floral finish. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 12, 2007 Pours a clear gold with a small white head. Not much going on in the nose. Some grainy malts are all I really pick up. The flavor is slighty malty with just the faintest hop flavor. Kind of bitter aftertaste that really didnt sit well with me. Just nothing exciting or interesting about this at all. Wasnt horrible, but I wouldnt have it again. barleyPops (1081), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 9, 2007 from Saarlander, thanks Aaron. nothing exceptional but certainly not bad either. just an easy drinking decent session beer. I thought this had better flavor than their Pale Ale. Reid (1093), Salem, Oregon, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 5, 2007 This is wierd.
NO way it resembles an amber, its golden, clear with a tiny white bubbly head ,looks more like a malt liquor!
Nasty over sweet aroma, again malt liquor like.
All I get as far as flavour is very sweet malts, bordering on sickening and cheap corniness.
Bad mouthfeel, to cloying.
Over all nasty stuff.
this is weird this is a totally different beer than many have described. To me this is a cheap ole malt liquor.
Has the recipe changed?
