I had to literally choke it down. Tastes bad, don’t like how it feels going down, not good on the palate. Looks like your standard light beer. Got it at Trader Joe’s, and I will surely not be buying it anymore. Naven (876), Poway, California, USA

Oddly enough it looks great...in a lager kind of way....but the head is nice and bubbly and there is lots of lacing going on. Problem is, there is absolutely no taste to this beer......or smell, for that matter. Im actually amazed that Mendocino Brewing (a relatively good brewer IMO) can make such a boring ale. Mendocino beers are all better than this is rated! It’s not a 1.9 beer! Not super hoppy but a decent beer. papajohn (1055), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA

Aroma is sweet and fruity. Flavor is sweet with a touch of apricot with a soft spicy bitterness and a lightly dry orangy finish. Light bodied, clean and smooth with moderate carbonation. scanman (146), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 25, 2006 There is absolutely nothing wrong about this beer. That said, there isn’t much hopiness for a pale ale and the brew drinks more like a lager, than a spicy, bitter ale. A very smooth and mellow finish. Something I notice about negative reviews for this beer, and other decent american beers, is that the grammar is often off and seems to be written by dim-witted "haters." I’d love to blind taste test with these people. WeeHeavySD (3040), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 29, 2006 This American Pale Ale pours an orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is bready and sweet. A very light bodied American Pale Ale. Malts are caramel, bready and sweet. Hops are slightly bitter. Its kind of mild tasting for a lager, and its really mild tasting for an APA. It a touch thin and a little sweet. Nice carbonation. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
