boFNjackson (465), Portland, Oregon, USA May 5, 2008 Tap @ Fearless... Poured burnt orange with a white head. Aroma of sugared malt and candy. Prominent malt flavors with sweet syrupy flavors and other sweetness from fruit, maybe apples. Contained an enjoyable bitterness in the finish. hotstuff (3015), Indiana, USA Feb 2, 2008 Draft at Oregon Brewers Festival, Portland, OR. Small tan head that mostly lasting, patchy lacing, no carbonation observed, transparent, and a reddish brown hue. Nose of malt and caramel. Ditto for the flavor with a hint of roastiness. Tingly mouthfeel and medium body. Quaffable, easy drinking brew, but it lacked the flavor I was hoping for given the style. Rather disappointing. Angeloregon (1516), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 8, 2007 On tap around Portland. Last tasted at Roma Colliseum on Woodstock--Poured a deep brown-amber with a faint white lacing head. Nose of sweet maltiness and caramel. Usually I am not a big fan of Scotch ales, but this one was decent. This beer is a cross between an amber and a sweet scotch ale. Mild carbonation and clean finish. Real Vikings in history didn’t wear helmets with horns, though. thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 6, 2007 This draft brew from the Oregon Brewers festival poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized off-white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a transparent softly carbonated brown colored body. The aroma was malty brown malt and sweet. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of mild hops sweet and brown malt. Not one that I would likely buy again. SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA Apr 22, 2007 Draft: Pours a red amber color with a very thin white head. Aroma of carmel malts. Flavor is of really smooth carmel malts and subtle light fruitiness and a little fresh hop and slight bitterness at the end. Mostly a good example of an amber ale but its really a scottish. Good, but one note.
