| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 18, 2006 A very appealing amberish brown, with a generous ring of white foam. A big caramel nose that follows into a sweet bready maltiness, with a frgrant nose that is somewhat floral and delicate, but lingers on the nose along with the flavors on the palate. Very well balanced and sweetly rich, it is just so smooth, I would love to have some more of this. Reid (1092), Salem, Oregon, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 5, 2005 Had only time for ne pint at Fearless and happily they had a Scotch ale.
Dark brown,, almost mahogany ale, small tan head , that ges very fast , leaving good laceing. Very little carbonation present.
Very malty aroma, slightly roasty in character.Nice on a cold day.
The taste again is on style full of lovelly maltiness, and warming alcohol, the alcohol is detectable but it actually lends something to the beer , rather than detracts. Its not quite as sweet as sme Scotch ales, but still in style. Very nice stuff.
Good mouthful, like a good Scotch the mouthfeel is not thick, but nice and smooth.
Very good drinkability for one so strong. Wish i had the cash for a Growler.

Dark brown body with a tan head that does not disappear quickly. Very earthy tones. The alcohol taste comes in at the end, but not to bother because the next sip is on the way. This was a good finish beer to relax after a meal. A must try. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
