chris_o (4405), London, Greater London, England Dec 23, 2006 Cask (handpump) at an unidentified pub on Tyneside, circa 2000. I’m departing from my normal practice of not entering pre-Ratebeer notes as I’m pretty sure this beer was phased out after the Fed brewery was taken over by S & N and this beer is no longer made. Although the circumstances of the sale were rather sad, this beer is no great loss. A thin and undistinguished supping bitter of no great interest. Amber colour, touches of caramel malt and very low hop presence. More like a light mild really. I’m not sure this is the same beer as Buchanan’s Original, as it was 3.6% when I had it, but its a bit late to start fiddling around with the listing now.

Golden coloured and slightly sweet. Some dryness in a full malt finish. imdownthepub (3995), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Jan 9, 2004 Cask Conditioned at The Swan, Bicester. Brown amber with creamy white head. A bit surprising to find this one as I thought the brewery had closed! Probably should have as the beer is a thin toffee caramel one dimensional malt beer with little character. Crit (2234), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Jan 15, 2003 Cloudy brown with medium beige head. Carmel malt nose. Carmel fore and mid with medium strength short hop finish. Just your run of the mill bitter
